Yesterday. I woke early, dressed nicely (with care) and drove Riley to day care. Then I shopped for yellow roses (flowers meaning friendship) to bring with me to coffee with my walking buddy. Coffee began at 9:30 and ended at 3 pm. We laughed, talked, shed a few tears. It was a very good time. Wicked Joe's French Roast.
At 3, I began my errands. The library to drop off books and pick up four new ones for G. Then to the grocery for the weekly meat specials (pot roast and pork blade roast for pulled pork) and yogurt and French Rolls for G's breakfasts. I bought kale, beets, rutabaga, red onions and butternut squash for myself. The root vegetables are still low in price so I'll eat them now. In a few weeks, the prices will double and triple and I won't buy them, even though I enjoy eating root vegetables very much.
My store brand of mini, unsweetened shredded wheat has gone up in price, again. Last week it was $2.29 a box. Yesterday, $2.49. It's gone up 60 cents a box since the summer when it sold for $1.89. The oatmeal shelf was nearly bare again. I counted five boxes. I contemplated purchasing the five grain cereal that Melody and Terry are eating for breakfast. I bought a bottle of wine instead.
Today, no breakfast. I'm having lunch with a library friend who is having a birthday today. She is having a massage and a haircut this morning and then lunch with me. We are going to our favorite spot and having the eggplant. We both LOVE the eggplant. I'm skipping breakfast so I can eat the two little "garlic knots" that come with the meal. After lunch, I will stop in at the health food store and buy raw sugar and check the cereal aisle. I may purchase a pound of dry black eyed peas.
Yesterday and the day before, I have been looking through my saved magazines on the book shelf. I discovered they no longer hold any appeal. I tore out some pages (ideas and collage material), but mostly they went into the recycle bin intact. I wish I could convince G to part with the piles of handyman magazines he has in the attic and in the office. We could easily fill the 30 gallon recycle container with his magazines each Tuesday for the rest of the month. I reorganized my collage scrap bucket (throwing things away) and washed (the container) and sorted my pens and pencils into my spin around caddy. I know pens are supposed to be stored flat. I store them standing up.
I received my first week's unemployment card in the mail yesterday. I'll be filing on line in a few minutes. I guess I'm "continuing" the filing of last year and not beginning a new file. I don't have my work diary as yet. Then, I have to begin seeking employment.
Not much to report. I was happy and cheerful yesterday and look forward to being happy and cheerful today as well. The remainder of the Goodwill (my daughter took the majority to work) will be dropped off today. And I am returning the mandoline I purchased for Christmas at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I have to ask G what he wants to have for dinner.
