Daily Notes- Saturday, September 27th. Sunshine and 67 degrees

I have a basket- not quite this large- sitting over to my right- filled with cloth scraps.  I dig around in it every so often hoping to find a bit of cloth that works well with what I have going in the usual SQUARE I am hand sewing.   It's an easy project with no deadline OR even the slightest of expectations. The last time I did this the squares became potholder gifts for the neighborhood.  I found a nice blue yesterday.

The floor looks like mine...but mine has none of the warm color of this one.  I specified- no red tones.

1.  The Sun is shining and the grass continues to green up in the cooler temps.  The perennial beds around and next to the house are overgrown and have a jungle aspect to them...I am unable to care for them...I admit my age and tendency to tip over as the reasons.  Too many older people tip over and hit their heads...and the ones I knew- died. Always alone.  The funerals were devastatingly sad.

2.  I have Soccer on the USA channel later today....cooking shows on PBS in a few hours.  I am up early... Today's book is the Emma Project.  The last of the Pride and Prejudice series by Sonali Dev.  Book two was as wonderful as I recalled it to be.  I purchased the three books so I could read them when I was unable to get to the library in my "old age".  The print is the right size and has enough ink to be visible to old eyes.

There are books in my bookcase I cannot read...light (pale) ink.  Magnifiers are not helpful with light ink.

3.  I did a load of wash yesterday and forgot it was in the washer- recalling the Washing Machine Pages- when I had to sit and watch the old machine in case it started spilling water all over the floors........which happened if I even got up to answer the phone.  I waited to replace it until we renovated the old bathrooms.  I still sit and watch the new one every so often...it makes whale noises which intrigue me. Son says the entire process takes exactly one hour...he has timed it.  I'm not surprised.  I have never even thought about timing anything.

4.  I finished the roasted beets...ate the dark red ones...the golden yellow ones were mushy. We also finished off the birthday cake....I was tempted to buy another one at the grocery yesterday......the cake was that good.  But I did not.

5.  This week is Hot Dog Week.  For my late lunch or early supper.... it surpasses Toasted Cheese & Pickle Weeks. But a close second to Homemade Vegetable Soup Weeks.  I also am thinking of reviving Spaghetti Weeks. I also enjoy Toasted Cheese and Baked Bean Weeks.  Been awhile.....  Deli Baked Chicken and Mayo is only for the Summer Months along with BLT's.  Sunday is Pizza.
