Field Notes- Friday, June 9th. House lights on- chilly.

Picture file full of Food Pics.  Strawberry Shortcake.

Husband is now going to cut grass.....sigh.  I can hear the riding mower starting up.

He's in the "I gotta do things" mode

So, I am just back inside...I happened to look out the back window and my husband was sitting on the riding mower and it was on FIRE.....I dumped the recycling and filled the pail with water and ran out...finally got the garden hose going and put the fire out....he'd backed the mower over the full gas can.

So...and he yelled at me.....and I am crying.  And he didn't get burned...and he apologized.

and I am..I am.......I don't know what. I am.  I guess grateful he wasn't on fire because the hose was tangled and I would not have been able to save him........

This sounds like a not good very bad day. Except that your husband didn't catch on fire and you looked outside at just the right time and the hose didn't kink and your husband apologized. So maybe just a very bad day.

I thought water was the last thing you wanted to pour on a gasoline fire??? Thank the Lord it worked for you and everybody is okay - Yikes!!!

I was going to put the water ON HIM. And we did get the fire out but the mower wouldn't start so it might be DEAD.
And to make this one of those- "no that can't happen" things- My Lunch Buddy's husband set his mower on fire today...

What would the Attorney General say if two old 70 year old women went to lunch on a thursday and both their old husband's burned to death on lawn mowers the next day???????? Ripley's Believe it or NOT.

So glad you are both okay other than a few very scary moments! And he apologized.

OMG! What a horrific thing to have happen. I'm so very sorry you had to go through this, Joanne. I can't even begin to imagine how scared and upset you must have been. Sending a hug.

IT was VERY UPSETTING. VERY. Could have been worse if I hadn't gotten up to re-heat my coffee and looked out the window.
