Happy New Year

I ended the old year by doing something I had never done before, ever. I made ravioli. I made the dough. I made the roasted butternut squash filling. I stuffed the little two inch by two inch pockets of dough and pressed a fork's tips into the edges to make a little design. It was fun. They tasted good. But not good enough to make again. I think I would have enjoyed eating all the roasted butternut right off the baking sheet, as I usually do, more than the ravioli. But they do look ever so cute.

I spent the evening with a dog who would have preferred his master's company. Lots of sad looks. Lots of going out to see if the car was back, yet. Lots of barking. I read my book. And even though it is about a Swedish detective and has lots of good reviews, the book is not all that good. But I am going to plow through.

My horoscope for January 1, 2010, says that I should be looking for a better job, or a better boss, or better work responsibilities or at least a better workstation. So, I have just decided to file for unemployment and have the government fund my search for a new job. That's quite a shift overnight, huh?

Today, while G and Riley go about their business, I am entering my studio/workspace with a box of garbage bags. And a few donation boxes for Spindleworks, the handicapped art co-op in town. My trash will be their treasure. And I can, perhaps, clear a path to the sewing machine. And start the year with a perfectly empty work table.

We're have Gas Betty for New Year's dinner. I was going to make meatloaf or chili with the package of ground beef I bought on Wednesday, but Gas Betty, spaghetti meat sauce, sounds more interesting.

I've had coffee, shredded wheat and coffee. I need to get dressed and begin the work of 2010. I may post again, later, as this post (and picture) was supposed to be written last night. I read a book instead. No television, again. Because reading uses more calories that watching television does.

I hope your theory holds - I have been doing more reading than watching television this holiday...
Best of luck with your job hunt and Happy New Year!
