Daily Notes- Sunday, August 31st. Bit of Rain yesterday and today Sunshine.

I drew things on index cards but haven't colored them as yet.  I like this one.  There's another weird  "bird" for later in the week.  Needs coloring.

1.  Shower before breakfast.  I didn't pass out or anything.. I'm nice and clean.

2.  I skipped the open wheel racing and had my oatmeal and read the Sunday Paper.  Did very poorly on the Suduko puzzle.  Didn't even try the Jumble.  There is an English Soccer game on today...

3.  Sunday Pizza later...and I have a note on the stove for son to put my two sweet potatoes in the oven when he preheats it. (and while the Pizza bakes ).  I finished with the hot dogs and will be eating the sweet potatoes this week.  With butter and cheese. Also left over pizza with a big salad.  Need to think of something to eat on Thursday.  Oh, Yogurt?????

4.  Still reading One Magic Moment.  Too many other things going on.........

5.  I will pay attention and decide when to go for my walk....too soon after I eat is never a great idea. My body is busy digesting and not interested in pushing blood into my brain.

6.  I need to either work on the cloth squares or put the piles of cloth strips in the basket...they are cluttering things up.  Usually I like "Cloth Clutter" but not this week.

7.  Counting down to my birthday....I am going to be very very old.....next year.

8.  After the walk I might investigate a round rock I noticed in the gravel near the street.  Carry it home to join my other rock.  Also flat.  Also roundish.  Was thinking of a stack of them.  And realized I would only have the two.....I believe a stack would be three.

Enjoy the flowers up top....drew them for YOU!!!!!

Daily Notes- Saturday, August 30th. 69 degrees with Sunshine here in Maine...in August.

I got this one off the internet but plan on doing a few index cards today.....I love the shapes on the vase.    We'll see what happens.  Perhaps another bird.

1.  Reading One Magic Moment by Lynn Kurland- started it yesterday. AFTER arranging book titles into a nice list.  I'm missing four books.  And that is doable (for buying). I have gotten one of the Library Desk people interested in the books..... she's reading Dance Thru Time (library copy).  First book in the entire series. I don't own a copy.  Might be hard to find.

2.  Began the day with thoughts of HOW I got this far in Life and where to go Next. What to Want Next. My Lunch Buddy wants an upgrade on the Waiting List for a Senior Living Place.

3.  Everything started beeping- power failure and Son has windows open upstairs and heard the Transformer BLOW.  I'm typing so I have power...would have been interesting to hear the generator start up.  I believe every house on the street now has a whole house generator.

4.  Neighbors (half of them) also installing new roofing.  We are not.  Son says ours is "new enough". The back side of the house roof looks brand new.  The Sunny Side.  The front is the Shady Side.

5.  PBS Cooking Shows today and then...Soccer.  I have hot dogs for lunch- the last two.

6.  I feel like I have spiders in my hair.

7.  Xfinity warning me that "old mailboxes are expiring". as if I knew what that was.

8.  I meant to mention that selecting clothing is now quite interesting...all my three quarter length Summer Pants need to be rolled at the waist (more than once)...and are actually too WIDE... and the waists are pretty loose. And I managed all this by being FORCED to eat three meals a day....Crazy.

Daily Notes on a Cloudy, dismal, damp 67 degree August Day. In Maine. It started Raining.

I saw this image and was transported back to the days of Water, Paints, Paper.  I don't have this many paint brushes.   I only had a few carefully selected ones that I cleaned and kept in very good condition......I still have them.  One was purchased in Vienna along with the paper I am still using..  I use only watercolors as I NEVER had the cash to invest in oil paints etc while in college. I think I might have enjoyed oil painting.  Pretty sure I would have.

My manual pencil sharpener- still in use--was purchased in Germany.  I sharpened husband's colored pencils every day when he was coloring...now I sharpen my own pencils.  But I rarely color anything these days.  Perhaps this Winter.  I did color quite a bit last Winter.  or the one before.

1.  So..we are definitely in trouble.  In Washington DC.  "We Need A Hero"

2.  Monday..the calendar changes to September.  Time is moving so slowly...which feels odd.

3.  I have ordered a good number of books at the Library...some last evening.  They may or may not have been pulled off the shelves.,..yet.

4.  I will be wearing my orange raincoat today. And my professional grade non slip shoes.

5.   I doubt this heavy rain today will have any effect on my VERY DEAD LAWN. Which is very dry and yellow.  The Google Search Engine had some items they wished to insert HERE.  Eleven of them. I said no.

6.   I am not sure what we will be buying today- only three items on the grocery list. I still have hot dogs and buns....left from last week's shopping...and as it gets chilly- I usually am happy making vegetable soup....so I'll check the vegetable bin.   I have two carrots but no celery and I have one onion. I have one can of white beans and one of black beans...

Daily Notes for Thursday, August 28th. Sunshine, Service Guy working in the crawlspace.

You were going to get an image of something else....but it refused...

1.  A very large guy is now in my very shallow crawlspace under the house.  Working on my Boiler that heats the house and the water we use for showers etc.   He has just reported that the Boiler is oxygen starved. So we need to find a way to give it air but not open the crawlspace to small animals.  Like mice. Who tend to chew on wires......... and I like having electricity.

2.  Son had to wait for his morning shower.

3.  The Morning Newspaper was dismal......sigh.....and I only read the headlines....and have stopped watching MSNBC completely.  There's no point...... the shooting yesterday was more than I could take. Who sold the guy those guns?????  That's the question that needs answering. The why is mental illness. Also television...on Will Trent a few days ago there was a massive gun fight on the latest rerun episode.  Perhaps the Church Shooter watched that episode????  Loaded his guns with bullets....

4. I skipped my Daily Walk yesterday...but today is warmer (sunshine) so I plan to go do the walk...as soon as I press publish here and might do it twice.  The walk not pressing publish twice.

5. September is just around the corner....moments away.

6.  Yesterday's book was The Satisfaction Cafe by Kathy Wang.  I liked it but decided to stop reading it about halfway in....it felt like whining.  There are family members no one likes...but they seem to feel they have to put up with them......you don't....have to.  You can cut them loose and never speak to them again. Let them find their own ways to live.  Without you. (without me)......it works.

7.  Hot dogs again for today's lunch.  Antique's Roadshow if there is a new episode on PBS. If not I'll  select a Library book and give it a chance...... if it fails then I will choose from my own bookcase. I looked for a green ish fabric for the fourth border of a square...I found something but now it's a rectangle.

And I am okay with a rectangle.

Daily Notes on Sunshine Morning here in Maine. Box suggesting 7 Google searches they would like to start.

 Kiwi.

1.  The Sun is shining but it's neither humid nor cloudy.  Not really warm either.  My mouse needed to get charged up. I no longer have one of those little square things to use to move the little arrow around.

2.  Haven't read the daily news as yet or chosen a breakfast cereal.......a very slow start to the day. Summer is driving past us here in Maine at quite a fast speed...and soon I will  compost whatever flowers are still alive in the planter boxes and get someone to help me empty them (soil) and return them to their Winter Storage places. Something I did all by myself for decades. and could possibly still do, if allowed to try.

3.  I have to finish this quickly so I can plug the mouse into the computer to charge it.

4.  Watched Will Trent last night...a repeat that is possibly two years old...and still listed as new in the paper.   I like the Will Trent in the books so much better than this guy- who is great but is not Will Trent.

5.  I have to hurry and eat some breakfast before it is officially NOON.   And time to eat Lunch.  I am hoping for a British Soccer Game or some Antique's Roadshow.  But I do have books to read.....

6.   I went thru my Kurland book list and WOW did I make a mess of it that first go round.   I now have 8 book titles I need to buy.... As my Son has mentioned I need to get over my of dislike Amazon- just wiring that about needing books has opened a Google Search for 10 or 11 things they say I need.  Just got another one.....This didn't begin until I purchased a book.

7. The Female character in my latest book was excited about leaving the past and getting home to  Toll House Cookies....I found a recipe and actually own all the ingredients........ I can't promise I will actually make cookies but it's nice to know it's POSSIBLE.

8.  That's all....had a good long talk with myself this morning- out loud- and feel like a bunch of emotional garbage has been bagged up.....  Garbage- Baggage...same difference.  Moving on. Hopefully.

Daily Notes for August 26th. Sunshine here in Maine. Robo Calls all day long.

Another odd index card.  Looks like a game machine.

1. Dentist was lovely...my teeth feel all smooth... the X-rays were not so nice.

2.  The outdoor containers; plant netting had a very large BEE caught... I shook it out.  Plants are getting a bit raggedy.....I clip off the flowers going to seed.  In another part of my Life: I would have saved the flower seeds and used them to grow my own plants. Some parts of my Life were quite interesting.

3.  Someone is getting Propane.  Not us.  The only Propane run item we have is the super expensive  Whole House Generator....  I read somewhere that open flame items contribute to asthma in children. And I think make adult asthma worse.  So my lovely new stove is electric.

4.  DEBL recommended Moonstruck to me... the OPERA in that one is very very nice. And like DebL- reminds me of myself summer in New York. I have it in my TiVo.... When I watch it I always wish I had had a family like that.....to sit down for every meal...argue, care for each other etc. There's a lot of LOVE in that movie.

5.  The first book in Kurland's  Middle Ages MacLeod series is still churning along.  They are all about to walk across a certain area of grass and walk into the Future.  And James MacLeod will be driving a dark green Jag instead of riding a horse going forward.  Not everyone survives that last battle, though. Next up is The Very Thought Of You.

6.  BLT for lunch yesterday and today it's HOT DOGS......can't wait.  I might even have baked beans.

Monday, August 25, 2025

Daily Notes on a Cloudy Early Morning in Maine. it might have rained a bit. things look wet.

Something a bit different today.... a strange new index card bird.

1.  .Daughter is having MUCH needed plumbing work done in the basement at her house....and some work on her bathroom.  She is off to buy herself a new toilet which the guys will install..  I showed her ours and she took a picture.  Her father was sent off to buy new toilets when the guys were doing the floor tile in our own two bathrooms.... and had removed the old toilets and tossed them in the construction bin.  With my permission.

2..Writing checks for large amounts...I think of husband at these times....he would do anything for his girl.

3.  I will be having my teeth cleaned and polished this afternoon......I have sensitive teeth so this will NOT be pleasant.  I usually call '"time out" several times during the cleaning.  They do put something on my teeth to make them less sensitive but it doesn't really knock back the sensitivity much.

4.  I am (still) enjoying Book One of the Kurland series----  Dance Through Time. The"bad guys" have just set an old woman on fire -alive- because they think she might be a witch.   I WAS enjoying the book until those few pages...and being tossed in the "pit"- read this as an early Septic Tank with snakes.---GAG.

5.  Like the lead woman in the book- I also would have shoveled the garbage off the stone floor and scrubbed it clean. And also taken over the kitchen.  Bread with rocks in it?????  No underwear?  It makes my old couch and the fridge sound like Heaven....oh, and a flushing toilet.  Double Heaven. A Hot Shower????- Triple Heaven.

6.  I am counting the days until my birthday and the Tiramisu Cake from the bakery.  It's still a long ways away.

7.  I caught the end part of Pretty Woman on TV and then set the TiVo to record the movie when it started up again. One channel will do that...run a movie and then run it again.  It's been decades since I saw that movie.  It's sort of like reading one of my romances. I cried during the opera part.  I always do if any movie has opera. I have several opera CD's and cry thru them as well..........I also like that French woman who makes me cry when I listen to her CD- Edith something that stars with P.  I'd go find the CD and the name- but........then I would want to start listening to it...best as something AFTER the TEETH...

Daily notes on a breezy, sunny Sunday in Maine.

1.  I had to play "fool the Computer" to get the photo where I wanted it and text where I wanted it.

2,  Reading another Kurland from the Library Collection..A Dance Thru Time. Very very vague reminders that I read this once, a LONG time ago.  Even owned the book a long time ago before it got burned up in an apartment fire- not my apartment.

3.  I thought I wasn't going to like the book- but I was WRONG.

4.  Reading the first of any series is sort of like turning over the puzzle pieces after you emptied the box on the table.   You see the beginning....you see the threads of the other stories.  All the pieces are there just jumbled up.

5.  My LL Bean watch has finally been fitted out with a fresh new battery.  So now I can attach it to my purse strap and know what time it is.  I rarely wear anything on my person.  No rings.  No nothing. I have ALL of that and it's all quite lovely......but I don't wear it.  After reading so many time travel books I have a certain feeling that in some other Life...NOT wearing rings was important. Or. a more recent life (this one) where wearing the rings was meaningless.  And knowing what time it was....not necessary.

6.  Soccer has already started and I need to get the tv going.  The newspaper was fine.... the Suduko difficult.

7.  Pizza today at 4 pm....  I really would like a square of whatever that is pictured at the top.

Daily Notes from Sunny and Cool Maine... Sea Breeze coming on shore.

My sister in law sent an email regarding yogurt yesterday and this morning a full repost from the INTERNET on yogurt.  The one I eat is not on any of the lists.  The winner is French Yogurt which my brother LOVES....  I have eaten this ..and loved it also...and of course, you all know, I would love the tiny glass jar as well.

1.  The internet obviously reads my email.

2.  My Daily Yogurt was not on the list- Noosa.  I mix mine with strawberry rhubarb fruit jam and Bran Buds.

3.  I am trying to read my way into a new (to me) time travel/knights in smelly castles romance.  Print is as tiny as this type. No, tinier.  As tiny as print on the French yogurt label.  Not really. Somewhere between. My eyes get exhausted and I have to stop reading.......then I get sad and have nothing to do.

4.  Sun is shining bright here in Maine.  Great weather for boating (sailing of all kinds)..... bike riding, driving with the top down etc.  For me...it's a brisk (defined by age) walk to the end of the street and back home.  Once. Then the couch to recoup energy.

5.  There is British Men's Soccer... yesterday's game was 5 to 1 when I showed up...not a chance of gaining four goals.....so I moved on to something else.  And then shut off the tv.  I did set the TiVo to record the Saturday Cooking Shows.  Which I will watch now or later.

6.  I got my coffee just right this morning....a faint chocolate whisper.   And with that happy note- I sign off.

Daily Notes- Friday, August 22nd, Why do I keep buying Town Trash Bags??????? Weird Memory Loop.

You get a leafy NOT Square image today.  The pencils have twirls of many colors in the lead.  You can sort of see it in the purplish colors.... Too much color.  Too similar. A real Fail.

1.  Shower today before grocery store- not the best idea I have ever had.  Dizzy.  I haven't walked much this week because of the slight dizzy feeling----smacking my face on the street asphalt would not be great.

2.  I got shaved baked ham, hot dogs and buns for lunches this week.  Protein???? I also have cheese for grilled cheese and pickle sandwiches.  I would have really liked French Fries but way too much salt content. Son says I only eat SUGAR.  I wish!!!  My True Love is SALT which makes me puff up.

3.  I found images of Nazi concentration camps in the last 20 or so pages of my Library Book.   I showed the disturbing addition- small cut out images including Trump-- to the gals at the check out desk....  sigh..  It was difficult to think = why????  In a Romance Novel.

4. Going thru my closet to find something to wear....takes up a great deal of my time each day before breakfast.....so I usually end up wearing what I wore the day before unless I spilled something on myself and......got dirty.

5.  That's about all I have to share with you today...new (vintage) linen pants from the closet that finally fit and are perhaps a bit loose, the Library book. my Future Lunch Choices.....the pants feel "new" since I never fit into them before now....and at 25 cents- I bought ANY linen pants the Bean Employee Store had for 25 cents. For the fabric alone..it was a great choice.  I also have on a vintage Bean linen camp shirt-  two dollars.  They were hard to find. And so VERY comfortable in the Summer.  Not the ones with darts... the boxy ones.  I'd love to have more and my son asked- you don't wear all the ones you have...now.....so why???  No reason.

Thursday, August 21, 2025

Daily Notes- Thursday, August 21st. Sunshine but very chilly here in Maine.

1.  Called for the Oil Boiler Annual Check Up and Cleaning.. very very long wait on the phone. I got the impression they no longer did the check up.......I still wanted one.  No date was given for the "future" check if there is one...  "we'll get back to you."  Nice.  Last time a guy came he said the Boiler was really full of dust...took him forever to get it all out

2.  Library and Grocery Store tomorrow.  Need to make lists.  Thinking about what I could potentially eat. Potentially ENJOY eating.  And what I do Not want to eat.

3.  Some Very Old Things on Antiques Roadshow yesterday.  Originally aired in 2004 and updated in 2019.  Most items decreased in value over time.

4.  Do you have anything hidden in the Attic that you might take to the Antiques Roadshow?????  I have  my grandmother's Best Dishes boxed up in the Attic- which more than likely wouldn't even sell at Goodwill.  I would have liked my portion of the annual Christmas Ornament Purchases we made as children.  One of my brothers took them all.  Promised not to even leave me a "speck of dust".  Nice.

5.  My husband didn't like Christmas.  The tree.  The lights. The ornaments. The gifts.. I'm not sure he even liked the food.  I liked the tree, the lights, the ornaments and the FOOD which I spent all day making.  I had a tree, lights and ornaments last Christmas.

6.  I need to dress better for the walk- yesterday I was very cold.... Even with the Sun Shining. Long pants and socks and a jacket??????????? A fellow walker said she was also "freezing".

7.  My sister in law sent me a listing of jar lids for the tiny French Yogurt jars my brother loves and I loved  also back in the day....the yogurt came in clear glass jars and the ones I liked and kept were ceramic blue jars.  I kept paperclips etc in the glass ones. No idea where they are.  Now.

8..My husband's high school yearbook arrived in Ohio.  Safe and sound. One classmate had lost theirs and his will be the replacement.  And they will all remember him.....class president.

9.  My yearbook was stolen from my parent's house by that crazy cousin.. my mother also gave away any clothes I left behind......I recall a visit home to the grocery store and saw my favorite yellow dress walk past me.  On someone else.

Wednesday, August 20, 2025

Daily Notes- Wednesday August 20th. Cool, no wind.....no Sun.

I transferred another index card over to the post....  this one got complicated.

1.  I mistakenly watched the PBS show on Vietnam... and had a great deal of trouble falling asleep.

2.  It's been cool and dry for a few days now...I am back to wearing a tee shirt and a long sleeved work shirt over it...was considering socks.  Uncovered my outdoor containers and they look like crap....so I might just pull plants out and be done with them (everything needs a haircut- but the petals are "sticky").   Those hot dry weeks did them no favors.  There were no nice potted plants at the grocery last Friday...or I would have bought some and replaced a few straggly flowers.

3.  I heated up and ate my Prepared Grocery Store Meatloaf Dinner.  Yesterday.  It was good.  Today the last of the BLT fixings.  OR the Corn.  OR the Watermelon. Or A slice of Sunday Pizza with Salad.  I read this list three times and I am settling ON the CORN.  Perhaps rolled in some sort of spicy something. And Butter.   I have Japanese Seven Spice.. Shichimi Togarashi Seasoning. Very Spicy.

4.  Reading has moved into the Tedious Zone......I actually do NOT Appreciate it doing that... so I looked over the Cloth Squares...to see if they had returned to being interesting......they had not.  Index Cards are also ....in Time Out.  I did open the Art Drawer......looked over things....then the Art Closet....even more things....I sharpened colored pencils.... sorted colored ink pens......stared at the ceiling......... came over here to type.

5.  Extremely BORED.  Antiques Roadshow continues to hold a fraction of my interest. Perhaps because they never stay on one antique for very long.

6.  I spent some time yesterday considering all the mistakes I'd made in college (perhaps why I watched the Vietnam program).... An Enormous Number of REGRETS.....I wish I could recall the last names of people I should make amends with...but...not a clue. I do recall their first names and where their parents lived (how odd is that???).   That doesn't help.  I also forgot the name of my dorm and the one across from it....the new dorms...I'll always remember Scott Quad.  I also wish I had remembered the number to open my Print Class Drawer LOCK.....I left quite a bit in there.... just like I lost parts of my SELF along the way. I also lost Pieces of Art.........whenever I see a print on Antiques Roadshow I almost start weeping. Well, not almost- I am weeping right now.

Tuesday, August 19, 2025

Daily Notes for Tuesday, August 19th. 11:40am. the following post is totally not worth reading.

1. Book Shelf... three others went directly to the Return Book Bag (yesterday) after the first page.

2.  Nothing much going on here.... I watched British Soccer...for awhile (yesterday).  But they didn't seem interested in doing more than kicking the ball around with little to no purposeful intent....or running.

3.  Antiques Roadshow was decent (yesterday) but an ancient repeat. As is most of PBS.

4.  My walk down to the end of my street and back was uneventful (yesterday).  I haven't stepped out to do the walk as yet today...but I have bills that can be placed in the roadside mailbox..... (Son just took them to the mailbox)...so cancel that.

5.  A & E was the channel holding Sam Spade.  I have double digits of Dark Winds to watch on that same channel. I read the books for so many years that it's now quite enjoyable to see and hear the characters and  the words.  I still haven't gotten Netflix.  My neighbor says I'd like Prime.  Really....I'd hate everything.

6.  Each book I selected to read yesterday went into the return bag.  Unread other than the few pages I did read.  How on Earth do they get published....????? if the first few pages are so very dull or boring ???? As a First Impression...... and I don't care what they write in the cover blurbs.  And Deb- the print in your books is too small and not enough ink....I had to give up... My eyes are almost 80 years old....and I can't read Large Print Books.  Large Words don't track in my head.  Son keeps trying to get me to try Books On Tape....but I have to be DOING SOMETHING while listening....and quite frankly- I don't have much "to be doing"....otherwise I fall asleep while not listening..

7.  That's it for today...if I was a Napper- I'd be napping. (those Books on Tape could be Nap Worthy)...it's that dull and boring here... even thinking about lunch (as pitiful as it is to type the word)- which is actually the highlight of my day....we don't serve dinner here.  Anymore. And my lunch is a sandwich- not even ANY chips. Sometimes a pickle. But only if it enhances the sandwich.  This entry made me laugh...it's so pitiful. Be happy you are alive, Joanne.

8. When they fit her into their schedule...guys are going to be digging up daughter's front yard...also her basement......her Antique Pipes have to be replaced.  You can only put stuff off for so long...............

9.  Son has gone out to lunch so my Daily Walk has to wait until he gets back.....I need an emergency contact in case I fall down. None of the street neighbors are home.  Well, ones I know to speak to. Or ones who would possibly bother to pick me up off the street.  Limited....yes, that number is quite limited.

10.  Sigh......as I re-read this post.....I imagine you reading it......I imagine people with REAL problems reading it....it's all whining....My Life is all whining......my apologies.

Monday, August 18, 2025

Daily Notes- I was right- Dental Appointment on Monday the 25th.

No image today....all the ones I have, have already been used....need to clear the decks and find new stuff.

1  .It rained yesterday- fast and heavy and then gone.  Also brought cool air.  Window open last night and down comforter keeping me warm.

2  Neither of my children wanted Birthday Cake or anything to remind them of their birth. I WANT Birthday Cake on MY birthday....coming up next.

And perhaps a repeat of last year's Custard Ice Cream...and yes, I will need to do math to figure out how old I am going to be.  AGAIN.

3.  Watched Sam Spade yesterday- recorded on a channel I rarely visit.  I think it was set in France after the War.   I found the clothing enchanting. (because I must have worn clothing like that in my past Life)........ and Sam Spade's naked rear end when he went into the swimming pool.  I also drew a picture of a mid century modern lamp in Sam's living room...I might have already written about that lamp....

4.  We had one like that in the house my parents lived in....a cousin of mine (mother's side of the family tree) drove up in a truck and emptied my parent's house (my dad was living elsewhere and my mom had memory loss)...he took ALL the furniture and I would guess the lamp etc... she may have still been alive then... living alone.. That cousin also took all  my father's tools and good machines out of the basement.

5.  There was some very iffy DNA in my Mom's Family.  Thankfully,  my brother and I closely resemble my Dad's people (as does my Son). Our youngest brother and sister were not so lucky.........

6.  A mid morning surprise thought.....The Amazon Medieval Book my friend Ordered for me.... This Is All I Ask...turns out it's a Medieval Rendition of Jane Eyre.... I KID YOU NOT.....is that NOT the MOST WONDERFUL SURPRISE in the WORLD?????     Crazy Wife in the Tower and all. And the Lord of the Castle is blind. I missed all the clues until this morning.

7.  Fantastic Addition to my modern Jane Eyre Collection. I have never read the original- the type is way too tiny...the large print version WAY TOO HEAVY...... And this Amazon book has tiny print but in DARK INK......very appreciative of books with dark ink.

8.  I am almost finished with Do This For Me by Eliza Kennedy.  It's a good book...slow start but speeds up nicely.  I'd like to be the lead female character.  She's amazing.

Daily Notes- I forgot- laughing--to post. yesterday.. Sunday. August 17th

The Daily visit to the Mailbox.  Only my hair is much much shorter... pants look familiar. Mailbox looks just like mine.

1..Many decades ago I was in the hospital holding my first born child on this date....wondering what in the HELL I was thinking having a BABY........also what in the HELL. was I thinking being MARRIED.

2..It all sorted it self out and I even had one additional baby...I still wondered about the being married....

3.  I have British Soccer on the Telly and need to sit and watch...so this post will end soon...also because I have very very little news to share....nothing happening here....well, the guys in the white shirts (Arsenal) scored a goal.... in first 30 minutes....Header off the Goal Keeper's Glove... quite a bit of fakery going on.. as usual.  And several really questionable hairstyles...

4. Sunday Pizza in a few hours....

Saturday, August 16, 2025

Daily Notes--- Was perfectly dry and even a bit chilly last night and this morning... now it's 80 degrees.

The recent pair of 80 plus degree days here in Maine has dried out the leaves...on my street...on my walk. I got to walk today as it's not as hot and HUMID....I also used an inhaler this morning.... Son says I was coughing "Too Much" (haven't coughed at all today so he might the right). Two of the leaves on the ground pointed left.  You see them tomorrow.

1.  Vanilla Yogurt, Strawberry Rhubarb Jam and Bran Buds for Luncheon.  British Soccer????

2.  Several glasses of water... I actually notice a difference in concentration and memory with the water consumption.  Even my balance improves.  Therefore...the Return of the Daily Walk.

3.  My insect bite finger was very very swollen again yesterday.. and today ..70% less. It has never been bothered about typing....and I find I use that finger quite often while typing. Pressing a lot of keys... In ALL things ....the rules have never been of interest to me....and I love typing.  I  have made it a JOB,  in a Past Edition of Myself.  So many editions of myself.  This one is very BORING.  But it's my fault for not "Going and Doing".

4.  I'm going to read all the pages in my book....yesterday I wasn't going to do that.  It's still Do This For Me. Author Kennedy.  And this is even though my amazon purchased book has finally arrived....it did in fact arrive Monday but just prior to my friend driving to the airport.  So, I got it today.

5.  I doubt I have enough BACON to make ALL my BLT's. this week...so they might be LT's unless I get very very very BRAVE and drive (myself) to the grocery store and buy MORE BACON.  It's my fault.....I thought I had enough.  I also have a Prepared Meatloaf Dinner, Baked Chicken Breasts and four ears of Sweet Corn to try and eat before Friday..  I kinda love August.  Goes without saying- I have nice ripe TOMATOES.  Might not actually need extra BACON.  See I talked myself out of getting in the car.

6. Grocery Update: No hoses for sale...ZERO.  My new nozzle is working quite nicely on the old leaking hose....which is still leaking....next time I turn on the water I am going to open the line more- for greater force in the water pressure..... I think to maximize distance of what I can water......I'll let you know.

7. I did pull some additional weeds...somewhere between two and four...every other day... the large ones with visible seeds.

Daily Notes- Friday, August 16th. AC units are off as it's in the 70's here in Maine- with Sunshine.

!.  Didn't buy any ice cream..but these cones look amazing.

2.  I did buy wedges of watermelon and also some sweet corn on the cob to eat this week.  I also got two more tomatoes.  And another loaf of soft white bread.

3.  Post Office to send off  husband's high school yearbook to the chairwoman of the reunion they are having.  The one I was never invited to attend.  Would ruin his "good time".  That's an exact quote. What a guy.  He was invited to social events when I was Club President in Europe...he just sat and looked like he wanted to be anywhere else.  Did  he ruin my "good time"?  Don't think so.  All the husbands wanted to dance with the President.  Me. Especially when their wives refused to dance with them......laughing.

4.  This is my second attempt  at posting as the first failed to do "something".

5. Book yesterday and possibly (long shot) today is/was Do This For Me by Eliza Kennedy.  A tutorial of what to do if you find out your husband took another woman on a business trip and booked only one room. Have your entire department of Law Assistants cancel ALL his credit cards, airport parking, car rental, return plane tickets, hotel room etc.  Also make statements on his business (Public TV) internet sites.  Pack up the house contents.

6.  Well, her reputation goes into another dumpster fire...  I moved ahead as I don't like whining and the husband was whining...... not saying sorry- blaming her for not fulfilling his "needs"..   There's a lot to like about this VERY ANGRY woman.

7.  Daughter brought me the three book collection of the three friends who buy a Lottery Ticket and WIN!!!!  One Library has ONE of the books.. .but she found brand new copies....

8.  My swollen finger had a bad day yesterday...it hurt, then it itched ,,,then it ached......It's still very swollen.  But it does okay typing.  The pad of the finger some insect sent it's tail sticker into...

9. I watched Professors digging in the Egyptian Sand looking for treasure and mummies yesterday.. I can return to Antiques Roadshow as PBS has Stopped Fund Raising... for a few days.  That's how I spend my days...oh and I drew on and colored a few index cards.  Staying Busy.

77 degrees at 9am with a 15% chance of Rain. We've been in a real dry spot this summer..

Today's index card is looking a bit dry as well.  And tired. Like Summer in Maine.

1.  I am up early, showered and wearing clean clothing....I need to do a load of laundry at some point but no worries as the closet is packed with things to wear. And almost all of it fits...some very loose and others just right.  I think I got rid of the "not ever gonna fit"....but the closet is still really full.

2.  My Landscaping Daughter (one more thing we have in common Connie) stopped by with three books in a series that I wanted....no Library in Maine has the books in their collections.  I offered her a BLT and after eating it she said it had been the "best thing" she has eaten in a while.  Soft white bread, mayo, bacon and tomato....does NOT get better than that.  I tucked in a bit of Romaine.....for color.

3. Son worked on my leaky garden hose and spray nozzles.   We tried every one of them... we also tried the sprinklers...everything leaked...  I now have a high tech head (we found on husband's workbench) on the hose and was instructed in how to use it....I recall needing to twist the top to the right.  I could be mistaken. I could end up soaking wet. Everything leaks cause the connection on the hose is bent...I need a new hose.  Gonna see if they have a nice one at the Grocery Store tomorrow.  A Candy Cane Stripe would be nice so I don't mistake a snake for the hose.

4.  If they come to cut the grass today- as usual- there really hasn't been any growth on the yellowish lawn out front- the backyard gets some shade from the big tree so it's mostly nice green grass out there.

5. Continuing with the less than interesting news.. I finished Boardwalk Bookstore before going to bed (excellent book). I had also watched about 10 minutes of Match Game....before returning to the book.

6.  Well, I am very very hungry so I need to eat....read the paper- use the heavy black marker if they have images of you know who.......try the Sudoko.........uncover the ornamentals.....(never before eating)

7.  Forgot to tell you- I was taking the netting off the big container and squeezed the netting and an insect stung my finger.....now I know to shake the netting before bunching it up.

Daily Notes- Wednesday. August 15th. Sunshine and 81 degrees here in Coastal Maine at 10am

Coastal Maine is the part of Maine that is usually cooler than the remainder--aka Vacation Land.  The Ocean is right over there........and in the paper this morning....a nice SHARK in the water where Mainers and Vacationing People SWIM.  Just Over There.  People are going to drive over to see the shark.......

1. If it's not one thing it's another.

2.  Working my way thru The Boardwalk Bookshop.  I read it a few years ago....but under different personal circumstances.......it's more enjoyable this time around.  I am finding quite a few things more enjoyable  "this time around".  The guy in this story is very goal oriented....

3.  AC units doing a great job and keeping the doors closed and shades down is also helping.  I don't venture out much- just to uncover and cover the ornamental annual containers.....I did venture into the garage to look for "sprinkler attachments" for the hose I have out by the steps...to water the hydrangea that are not enjoying the heat and dry soil..... I have notified my son that I might need assistance getting them to work.  And Sprinkle in the Right Direction.  Which is a Very Important Detail.

4.  BLT yesterday and another today (might toast the bread today)... 24 Law and Order episodes recorded...and missing the last 5 minutes (or more).  I could have gotten mad but instead I just laughed....and recalled having to add minutes to the records "back in the day"....Like I don't remember who "done it"........after watching episodes over and over again for decades.

5.  I have been saving (hoarding) my yogurt ice cream bars.....but breaking one out of the freezer later this afternoon while reading sounds good.   I would love one of those muffins the gals are baking in the book.. also would have enjoyed walking the beach picking up trash....which reminds me to re-read Met Her Match after I finish this book....

Daily Notes on a Sunny Humid Tuesday, August 12th.

We added AC units to the closed windows and ceiling fans and it's quite nice in the house...sleeping was also comfortable.  I have all the blinds closed as well.  August is not my favorite month.

1. Took FOREVER to finish that book.  Ever My Love.  Today it's the Boardwalk Bookstore.  Still waiting for  the book my Lunch Buddy ordered for me- her order didn't arrive either.  Right now she is carrying heavy suitcases to a third floor Dorm Room in Pennsylvania...  We both are dreaming of Ice Cold Gin and Tonics.  Extra Limes.

2. Hardback with nice sized print for today's book--- The Boardwalk Bookstore. Been quite awhile since I read it...so should be a nice treat.. I recall the last few pages to be quite lovely.

3.  Also BLT's today........ Two for sure.  No chips..... Son and I agreed that the salt does me No Favors.

4.  I need to fill the watering bottles and carry them out to the porch...in this heat and sun the containers need watering twice.  Last week's bottles got Miracle Grow....a half measure per bottle.

5.  The watering, covering containers  for the night and then morning uncovering and a walk to the street mailbox are ALL the outdoor I am getting right now.... I'm about the only person on the entire street going  for a walk or being outdoors....so as I mentioned to my Son- no chance anyone will notice if I fall to the ground and help me up.  Son would rather I also gave up the mailbox...

6. These notifications that "five Google entities" have found interest in my post content so far----oh, what a bucket of crap--- it's always five and it's the same notification every day- and I delete it every day.  There is nothing Google would find interesting in any of these posts....I'm not selling anything........and I sure am Not Buying Anything...etc.   Unless it's the A-mazing word in paragraph one.....

7.  Newspaper to read and Suduko puzzle to work on...... garbage men have come and gone...  A regular Tuesday Morning in Maine.
